Overview
Health and safety legislation requires that all education and childcare staff who perform manual tasks in their work receive training on safe manual handling techniques to minimize the risk of injury.
The Manual Handling in Childcare course has been created to fulfil these requirements and teach those who work with young children to perform their daily duties safely.
This course adheres to the Model Code of Practice for Hazardous Manual Tasks, established by Safe Work Australia.
Who is this course for?
For Individuals:
- Educators and carers who work in early learning environments.
- Individuals who provide services to the industry and visit early learning environments, particularly if they have contact with children (e.g., photography services, specialized program providers).
For Businesses:
- That need to ensure their staff receive appropriate training as required by SafeWork regulations.
- Who want to minimize the risk of workplace injuries and provide a safe environment for their employees and customers.
Course Outline
The Manual Handling in Childcare training program is broken into two parts:
- PART 1 - The what, why, who and how of safe manual practices including relevant legislation, anatomy, how injuries occur, risk assessment and reporting
- PART 2 -Care practices, safety tips, industry specific manual tasks, pregnancy considerations, physical fitness and hygiene.
